This week and till next Wednesday, we will be on a break from local competitions. The league will continue on Nov. 1 and that will conclude the fourth break since the league started last August.
I think that we are making a world record for having too many breaks, which kills the excitement of the league. If only we plan our calendar well in advance, we could reduce the breaks to only one.
But then what’s the point of complaining when clearly nobody listens. The same mistake happens over and over.
Since the break is on, we might just as well enjoy Ahli and Ittihad’s semifinals. Regardless of the result of the first leg, everyone would still be thrilled to wait for next Wednesday’s second leg.
And you know, these two teams have a lifetime’s chance to win the Asian Champions League, now that Hilal is out. Ahli and Ittihad will not have a more difficult opponent than Hilal, whose management has not done much since they lost except to try to control the media.
Hilal’s management is highly allergic to criticism, and takes every comment as a personal attack to them. They are using these to draw some sympathy for them, while at the same time hiding from the real issues at hand.
Anyways, we hope that this break helps both Hilal and Nasr to get back on track. Nasr seems to have a bigger problem after it wrongfully replaced its coach. The new one seems to be clueless, and would take forever to get a hold of the team to the right direction. In my opinion, Nasr’s only chance is the Crown Prince but even that looks vague. I’m afraid that the team needs an actual miracle to save it from its doom.
Eid Mubarak, everyone.
