This is with reference to the article “Hadi’s return a game changer” (Feb. 25) by Osama Al-Sharif. It is heartening to note that the GCC countries and other world powers are on the same page in the case of Yemen. The international community must have realized that their understanding of the Middle East is not adequate and without incorporating viewpoints of Arab, particularly the GCC, countries their policies are bound to fail. This is very much evident from the disaster that the so-called Arab Spring — supported by the West — has proved to be. The West welcomed that so-called change in the name of freedom and democracy and did not heed to the advice of its ally, Saudi Arabia. There are many factors that come into play when any change is even proposed in this part of the world. The Kingdom had, since day one, been warning the world about the perils of these so-called revolutions.
