This is with reference to the letter “Western media” by Jawad Shah (March 2). I fail to understand as to why we criticize the West for all the ills of the world. The writer has blamed the mainstream western media for “creating confusion” in the world. The West is not stopping any nation from improving its standard of education. The main reason behind the problems of various countries is rampant corruption. Now, how could one justify that? Should we again blame the West particularly the United States?

Please, stop this blame game, as it would lead us nowhere. If Muslim countries and other non-western nations believe that they are being wronged by the western media, they should counter it by improving the situation of their media outlets. No, they will never do that because the best way to run from one’s responsibilities is to pass the buck to others.
