It seems that it is Yemen’s turn now. What is happening in the Middle East? Countries in the region appear to be like dominoes falling prey to terrorism and unrest one after the other. Now I feel something very fishy is going on in the region. The so-called Arab Spring now appears to have been engineered by some forces, which want to see a new Middle East that could serve their interests.

Instead of taking some prompt action against Houthis, the world is still relying on paying a lip service. What is the international community waiting for? The United Nations and other powers should take immediate action against the Houthi militants before they grow in strength, like in the case of the terrorist organization, Islamic State (IS).

Nobody had expected the IS to make such significant gains in such a short span. It is high time a meeting of all elements of Yemen’s polity was convened to tackle the Houthis. This is a small group, which does not represent the majority of Yemenis. It should not at all be allowed to impose its wishes on the majority. Tribes in Yemen should be encouraged to join hands with political forces, instead of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQIP), to come up with a political and should the need arise, a military solution to the problem.
