The West should adopt different policies to counter radicalization of its Muslim citizens. There is a great need for understanding the factors that lead to an individual’s radicalization. I refuse to accept that it is easy for a person to get brainwashed online and he/she suddenly decides to leave for Syria or Iraq. The western governments should try to address any discrimination, if any, against their Muslim citizens. The western media should also try to act in a responsible manner. I have nothing against the western ideals of freedom of expression but a biased attitude creates problems. The western media has developed a tendency to quickly make generalizations about Muslims and Islam.

This approach is against the basic tenet of journalism i.e. objectivity. It seems that the western media is working on some agenda to promote radicalization of Muslim youths in the West. The governments should study this matter carefully and take necessary action without infringing on media freedom.
