This is with reference to the report “Nazaha identifies govt agencies’ ongoing violations” (March 9). Corruption is a major issue facing the Third World countries. Perhaps, it is the greatest impediment on the path to progress. It is commendable that Saudi Arabia is taking measures to fight graft in an effective manner. The establishment of Nazaha is a testimony to the government’s resolve to root out corruption from Saudi Arabia.

It is sad to note that people in the government sector are involved in corrupt practices. Actually, it is wrong to rely on the government to fight corruption. It is the duty of every citizen to support the government in fighting crime and criminals.

Nazaha should try to get people involved in its mission by wisely using the social media. With the advent of social media, it has become easier to fight graft. The Saudi government is always on the move to help its people, so it is the responsibility of every citizen to pay the government back by avoiding corrupt practices. Usually people don’t realize the long-term effects of corruption. It is true that such actions or practices appear very enticing but if one realizes the impact of such things, he/she would refrain from indulging in corrupt practices.

Saudi Arabia is a great country with huge potential but due to mismanagement and corruption, it is yet to rise to the heights it deserves in the comity of nations.
