This is with reference to the report “Jordan launches new air raids after vowing harsh war on IS” (Feb. 6). It is high time that the international community stepped up its efforts to eliminate the criminals operating in the guise of Islam. The execution of the Jordanian pilot has revealed that the group called the Islamic State (IS) consists of sick-minded people with no knowledge of Islam.

Despite continuous air raids, it is really confusing to see this group making gains in Iraq and Syria. I refuse to believe that the IS is relying on funds from a few wealthy people across the Muslim world. If that is the case then that means the international community is not doing enough to fight this brutal group.

How come zealots from Europe are easily pouring into the conflict zones to join the ranks of the so-called Islamic State? I thought that West had a strict system of surveillance in place since 9/11.

Muslims are now getting the feeling as if some “unseen” forces are deliberately supporting the IS so as to keep the bogey of terrorism alive.
