It was really distressing to read the report on a fuel tanker explosion in Riyadh that killed 22 and injured 133. Transport of fuels such as gasoline, diesel or Jet A1 (for airplanes) by tankers on roads has a high risk, knowing the statistic of high road accidents in the Kingdom.
A way to reduce such risks is to plan and develop ways to transport hazardous and flammable products by pipelines. Other countries have already experienced similar disasters in the past, and have taken measures to reduce risks. — Antonio Martinez Niembro, Dhahran
