This is in response to the story “Height of adventure: Saudi woman conquers Everest.”

After reading the complete story, I was disappointed to find no mention of a Pakistani woman who was as much a part of the expedition team as the Qatari or the Palestinian man in the report.

It does make great news headline for a woman to conquer an altitude as high as Everest, which should be highlighted in every way but not without facts.

This is modern age, news travels fast, and one cannot be biased when reporting international events. Also please note that the Pakistani media carried the same story and they mentioned the feat of a Saudi woman. Can we expect the same sincerity from the Saudi media? — Umber Atif, By e-mail
