This is with reference to the report “46,000 Twitter accounts linked to Islamic State” (March 7). It is indeed very alarming but keeping in view the nature of the social media, it is unavoidable. Blocking or suspending these accounts may work temporarily but it may not be the permanent solution to this problem. This problem highlights the need for waging an intellectual battle against the deviant ideology from every available platform. This is perhaps the only way out because it is easy to open another account on various social media platforms and much easier to remain undetected. Secondly, there are thousands of websites in the cyberspace disseminating hate material.
