This is with reference to the article “Apartheid is the right word for Israel” (May 12) by Abdel Aziz Aluwaisheg. I am surprised over those people who think that Israel is not an apartheid state. The writer has done a favor to many by defining the term properly. If we go by the definition, there should be no doubt left in the mind of any sane person about the true nature of the Zionist regime.

One thing is for sure that Israel is not at all willing to give Palestinian their legitimate rights. It leaves no stone unturned to sabotage the peace process. We should realize that Israel is not serious about making peace with Palestinians. Had it been otherwise, it would have halted its illegal settlements activities.

Palestinians should adopt a different course of action. I am not advocating an armed struggle. Since all Palestinian factions have almost agreed to form a unity government, they must move forward with the idea and forge unity among their ranks.

They must, in cooperation with other Muslim countries, launch an effective media and diplomatic campaign exposing Israel’s true face. The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel has already gathered pace in the world and the Palestinians must make efforts to make it more successful. Palestinians should bear one thing in mind; they must not take up arms. The days of armed struggle are gone. The should make good use of the social media and create awareness among people who think that Israel is a thriving democracy in the Middle East “threatened” by Palestinians.
