This is with reference to the article “Gitmo: A wound that continues to fester” (Jan. 31) by Harun Yahya. It was a brilliant article that everybody should read carefully to understand the reasons behind the current global turmoil particularly in the Muslim world. Instead of churning out yet another conspiracy theory, the writer carefully highlighted the issue leaving his readers to decide and come to a conclusion themselves. I appreciate this style of writing very much, as unlike a pedagogical approach it forces a reader to think deeply.

Every sane person with a little understanding of world politics would agree that a dirty game to get hold of world’s natural resources is under way. One just needs to follow the pattern, which the writer has beautifully mentioned.

The other part of the article deals with the approach used by world powers to resolve the ongoing crises. It goes without saying that use of force has aggravated the situation. Had this strategy been very effective, the world would have become a better place soon after the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. That, however, did not happen. Sometimes, I feel that the world powers don’t want peace. They want this chaos to continue to promote their interests. Many theories suggest the role of world’s major corporation in the current turmoil and their influence in major world capitals. The current situation only endorses such views. As for the infamous Guantanamo prison, it should not have existed in the very first place. We appreciate US President Barack Obama for his views about the closure of this prison. We do understand his limitations. Gitmo is the fountain of hatred. There is a great need for taking immediate measures for the closure of this prison. It continues to prick world’s conscience.
