Vayalar Ravi, minister for overseas affairs and E. Ahamed, minister of state for external affairs, are on a state visit to Saudi Arabia to help Nitaqat-hit Indian expatriates. Both of them declared in unequivocal terms that the Indian community was living in a foreign land where one must respect and obey the laws of the land and urged the Indian workers to regularize their living and working status within the three-month grace period already declared by the Saudi government.

This is what the Saudi government is also telling us. As an ordinary Indian, though not hit by Nitaqat, my question to these visiting ministers is: What is the net result of their much-acclaimed and awaited visit? — P.V.S. Narayanan, Dammam
