This refers to the news report “Bangladesh rejects Daesh link to foreigners’ murder.” (Oct. 5)

I have been a staunch opponent of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina because of her dictatorial handling of the internal politics and targeting all those who have links with political parties having roots in religion. But her latest stand on the country’s internal security is praiseworthy for many reasons.

There are media confabulations about the Daesh presence in Bangladesh. Such rumors are targeting the country mainly in the wake of a few murders of foreigners that have taken place there in recent times.

Hasina has rightly rebuffed the rumor mongering media by saying she has not found any involvement (of Daesh) and that if someone claims responsibility, “why should we have to accept it?”

Her Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal too rejected such claims and said there is no existence of Daesh in Bangladesh. And I agree with him when he says that such murders were “an attempt to create instability in the country.”

It is only because the two persons that were murdered recently are Japanese and Italian that the media’s rumor milling machine became active and blame it on Daesh elements in the country.

Only a few months ago, a Saudi diplomat was killed there and then nobody raised the issue of Daesh at that time. Daesh and all such terrorist organizations respect no religion weather Islam or any other. They have their own faith, their own set of dogmas and their own laws, whether that is Daesh in Syria, RSS in India, Taliban (in Pakistan), PEGIDA in Europe, Bodu Bolu Sena in Sri Lanka, the list is endless.
