I do agree with the views expressed by Abdulrahman Al-Rashed in his article “Playing on public fears” (Jan. 23). It is correct that Donald Trump is issuing anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant statements just to gain votes. Had he been that anti-Muslim, he would not have business interests in the Muslim world. However, this does not mean that what he is doing is good. He is driving a wedge between various communities living in the United States for his electoral gains. This is a negative approach with far-reaching consequences. Trump and his likes are basically selfish people who are only concerned about their interests. The hatred Trump is spreading in the United States will come back to haunt him.

Instead of alienating minorities in the US, he should make efforts to promote an atmosphere of love and tolerance. The United States has already suffered badly at the hands of Bush Jr. and his cronies. Now American politicians should refrain from such silly tactics.

Nobody could bring back the glories of this great nation by attacking the ideals it was built upon.

The current presidential race is very strange, as we cannot see any strong candidate for presidency. The only strong contender for the post appears to be Hillary Clinton but she is just better than others. Otherwise, Clinton is also not up to the mark. Trump, on the other hand, is making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
