Ever since the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under the patronage of the Hindu right wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come into power, India has been witness to a growing restiveness in most of its regions.

Egged on by communal elements in the ruling party, the country is fast giving way to communal riots and undue controversies that are taking place at regular interval.

The Hindutva forces are bent on to turn the country into a Hindu state for which they are trying to convert the religious minorities like Muslims and Christians into Hinduism by force as also by inducements.

We have already witnessed these Hindutva rowdies launching rumors of ‘love jihad’ to defame Muslims and Islam, but which in turn has polluted the congenial environment of the country.

What is surprising is that the BJP government does not reign in these fascist elements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s now quite popular weekly radio program, Man Ki Baat (Heartfelt Talks), never ever alluded toward the destructive works by fanatic Hindus, which is harming the Indian society and will definitely dent the image of the ruling party, which has come to power with an unprecedented mandate.

Modi boasts of taking the country to new heights of progress and prosperity, but can he do it while turning a deaf ear to such backward elements that are taking the silence of the prime minister for granted? Isn’t this impassive attitude proving to be a blessing in disguise for those who want to disturb the nation?

I urge the Modi government to reign in RSS, its ideological source and other fanatic Hindus, in order to win the confidence of the masses. Once there is harmony in the country, India will gallop on the road of progress on firm note.
