I read with interest the article “The 2014 paradigm shift” (Dec. 23) by Ramzy Baroud. It is heartening to note that things are changing for Palestinians. The struggle for a sovereign state has entered a crucial phase and it is very important for all Palestinian factions to forge unity among themselves. It seems that the two major players, Hamas and Fatah, are still at odds with each other. This is not very good for the Palestinian cause. The international community is finally realizing that Israel is not the victim but the oppressor and the anti-Israel sentiments are running high after the recent Gaza onslaught. This is a golden opportunity and should be utilized effectively. Thanks to the advent of new media, it is no longer easy for any power to hide the truth. Palestinians should form a joint front against Israel. Fighting for power will only hamper the cause and Israel will benefit from the disunity.

I urge all the Muslim countries to join the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement so as to render Israel economically weak. It is a movement that should also be supported at an individual level as well.
