This is in response to the report “Syria opens poll campaign as war rages on” (May 12). The international community should never accept these polls and its results. Bashar Assad’s cruelty knows no bounds.

After killing more than 150,000 Syrians and rendering around the same number homeless, Assad wants to be reelected. He is a power hungry dictator, who can stoop to any level to retain his position. It is unfortunate that the world is still wasting time and expecting this brute to act sensibly.

I think by the time the world will swing into action, Assad would have wiped out all Syrians opposed to his brutality, which incidentally form the majority.

History will never forgive Iran and Hezbollah for supporting Assad regime. By supporting Assad, Iran has exposed its true face. The international community should impose biting sanctions on Iran for its harmful role in the region.
