I read with great interest the article “Remembering the ‘reformer’” by Susan V. Ople (Jan. 28). Late King Abdullah was a great leader and took care of all the people living in the Kingdom without any discrimination. I was pleased to read about his intercession in the case mentioned by the writer. He was undoubtedly a visionary.

During his rule, the Kingdom emerged as a power to reckon with. His policies on different regional and global issues were based on ground realities. Had the world heeded his advice on the Syrian crisis, the situation would have been very different.
