The announcement in early April of a three-month grace period for workers to rectify their residence status by changing their sponsor or profession was a welcome move. Unfortunately, every one in Jeddah who tried to take advantage of the period was disappointed because nothing happened in the last two months.

The actual date on which the status correction process started was May 25. So, actually the grace period practically started one week ago. How would so many people be able to correct their status in less than 39 days? I hope the authorities are aware of the delay and will take corrective measures to ensure that all expats who want to rectify their status are given a chance to do so. - Alwee Attas, Jeddah
