This is with reference to the report “Cairo eyes UN-backed intervention to fix Libya” (Feb. 18). How long will we continue pinning hopes on the United Nations? What can this toothless organization do? It has done nothing to resolve the ongoing regional and global conflicts.

It is but a tool in the hands of a few powerful countries, which use the UN for the promotion of their vested interests across the globe. The international community excluding the Security Council members should boycott this organization and walk out permanently and try to form a league of its own. It is very important to do something against the Security Council, as it is unfair to act on the dictates of a few nations. These countries talk about democracy and anti-imperialism but the truth is these are imperial powers in the garb of democracy. In addition to that the failure of the UN to prevent Iraq and Afghanistan invasion is reason enough to boycott the organization.
