I am writing this letter on behalf of my schoolmates to make the school authorities and parents aware of our suffering in the past few days due to the unbearable and scorching heat. Unfortunately, there has been a steep rise in summer temperatures and we, the students of International Indian School, Jeddah (IISJ) Girls’ Section, are suffering a lot.

There was no electricity in most of the school on June 3 and the power is still erratic. The classroom AC’s are inefficient; some are very old while others are damaged. Despite repeated complaints they have not been replaced or repaired. When school disperses, it is extremely hot. If this continues we are bound to fall sick sooner or later. — A student, Riyadh
