I enjoyed reading Linda’s recent column in which she explained how Western agencies have used various unethical and unprincipled means to get rid of leaders they do not agree with.

While nothing justifies the heinous crime of hacking to death a young off-duty British soldier by so-called fanatics, there are certain measures the British government should take with immediate effect:

• Deport all those who misuse the freedom of expression to preach hatred and incite violence and anarchy — revoke the permits of all those naturalized citizens convicted of hate crimes.

• Ensure that all sermons in British mosques have been previously vetted and cleared by a specially appointed commission which will include members of local Muslims and other civic leaders. This should be made mandatory for at least the next five years.

• Madrasas and their curriculum in Britain should be closely scrutinized and teachers should be approved by the above newly created local body.

• Allow organizations like the BNP and other extremist groups to be part of the sovereign parliament thereby eliminating the risk of extremism toward other ethnic minorities in the UK.

• Help resolve the Israeli-Palestine conflict by accepting that the only solution to the strife is the creation of one Israeli-Palestine sovereign country with two distinct societies.

• The West should revert to the high morals and ethics in their foreign policies. Until they align their domestic principles with the foreign policies, the world will continue to witness these “clashes of civilizations.” The cardinal principle governing “foreign policy” should be good governance, absolute accountability and transparency.
