Ronaldo: Players shouldn’t leave field in protest

ZURICH: Cristiano Ronaldo says it is “incredible” that fans still racially abuse players at matches, and questioned if it was right to walk off the field.
Ronaldo says racism “cannot exist” in football following FIFA and UEFA campaigns, and urged “we should live in peace, all of us.”
The Real Madrid forward spoke out before the Ballon d’Or ceremony when asked if Kevin-Prince Boateng was right to lead away his AC Milan teammates last week to protest abuse during a friendly with a fourth-tier Italian club.
Ronaldo says “you cannot simply walk off,” and adds that players “have to cope with this kind of audience in the stadium.”
Ronaldo says incidents sometimes involve “just a few people,” though “maybe they have a couple of screws loose.”
