According to a recent study by the King Fahad Security Academy research center, some 10 percent of secondary school students in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam show a higher tendency for aggressive behavior whether verbal or physical, local media said.

The aggression takes different forms including corporal, verbal, psychological, or sexual assault which could generate adverse effects represented in destruction, vandalism and abuse, and could run counter to various laws and moral values, the study said.

This higher rate of aggressive behavior was persistent with secondary school students at observation houses, government and private schools at 19 percent, 9.9 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively, the study said.

Secondary schools in Riyadh had the highest rates of aggressive behavior at 11 percent, followed by Jeddah and Dammam at 10 percent and 8 percent, respectively, the study said.

According to the study, spread of aggressive behavior among children and adolescents in the urban centers is more noticeable than in the rural areas.

The aggressive behavior among the young students account for 55 percent of all forms of behavior, followed by vandalism at 14 percent, student-teacher misconduct at 12 percent, and student-social controllers’ conflict at 11 percent, the study said.
