The Ministry of Education awarded prizes to 10 high school students who emerged winners of a Kingdom-wide art contest entitled “Take a Picture of your Country” held here on Thursday.

The contest, which was open for Saudi students to display their photographic interests and skills, was organized by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in collaboration with Ministry of Education and HP Saudi Arabia.

According to an official from the Ministry of Education, there was an overwhelming response from the students to this contest which was held throughout the country. “It was a great opportunity for the students to display their artistic skills,” he said.

Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts, Sultan El-Bazie, touched upon the positive response from high school students to express their skills and set free their latent potentials. He added that the contest is a melting pot where all creative works by students meet. He reaffirmed that schools across the Kingdom have many students with a talent for photography, which was evident in the works of the participants.

Hassan Al-Mihrak, manager of HP Saudi Printers Unit, said HP is keen on participating in “Take a Picture of your Country” contest to raise awareness among high school students about the cultural sites in the Kingdom. Among the prizes given to the winners of the contest included HP Deskjet Ink Advantage.

The winners were:

1st Prize: Atheer Al-Farag, 16, from High School 137, Riyadh;

2nd Prize: Ois Abu Dawood, ,16, from Al-Khaleej national school, Riyadh;

3rd Prize: Rawabi Ali Amer, 18, from the Fourth High School in Abha;

4th Prize: Fayzah Obeid Al-Zahrani, 18, from Al-Fanar National School, Riyadh;

5th Prize: Hessa Ali Al-Zahrani, 17, from High School 12, Najran;

6th Prize: Kholoud Al-Hassan, 16, from Dar-El-Fikr High School, Jeddah;

7th Prize: Abdulaziz Al-Bogami, 15, from Odai bin Hatem Intermediate School, Jeddah;

8th Prize: Osama Al-Swaji, 12, from Al-Sadarah National School, Riyadh;

9th Prize: Hisham Al-Edan, 15, from Al-TTrbiah Al-Namouzagia School, Riyadh and;

10th Prize: Abdul-Mohsen Al-Mahdi, 16, from Ibn Al-Qayem Schools in Dammam.
