JEDDAH: More than 100,000 teachers will resume their duties in Riyadh

on Sunday after their summer vacation.

The education director of Riyadh, Mohammad Al-Mirshed, congratulated the directors of education offices and supervisors as well as teachers and councilors upon the resumption of the school year.

The assistant director general for school affairs, Hamad Al-Shnaibir, said the directorate had finished assigning teachers to all schools in Riyadh.

The assistant director general for supporting services, Fahad Al-Sgaya, said the directorate had completed maintenance of more than 300 schools and the air conditioning in 1,200 schools.

Approximately 10,000 teachers have complained because they were restricted by a decision that prevented them from external transfer for two years after Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil approved the two-year experiment for first time teachers.

While 120,000 teachers are waiting for the ministry’s response concerning external transfer, the ministry has not yet disclosed the results of the workshops it held in its various directorates at the end of last year.

During the past eight months the ministry has made a number of decisions that affected the field and its officials. Al-Dhakil issued a number of appointments in the new administration of the ministry and made a number of decisions related to the public education sector. These included the appointment of a group of educational leaderships in posts that are related to educational elements pertaining to pupils, teachers and the curriculum, in addition to improving the school environment and the financial performance of the ministry.

The ministry’s employees are awaiting the results of the ministry’s movement which were taken during the second semester last year. At the top is the new vision for external transfers and rights and duties of teachers and promises and come up with the best solutions to achieve their aspirations. They expecte school curricula to be free from mistakes or improper subjects, after the new minister issued a directive to avoid unsuitable subjects. Vacancies have been filled after allowing university graduates to occupy educational posts and allow non-educators to work as teachers.

New projects include classes to teach the Qur’an in public education schools, and opening nurseries in educational facilities and universities. The new program includes the implementation of a program for the gifted and strengthens schools for the gifted. A comprehensive project will be launched the in public schools which focuses on integrating children with disabilities with other students in all phases of public education. The ministry is preparing to implement the first phase of the school clinic project with 4,800 clinics in all provinces and governorates of the Kingdom.

The ministry coordinated with other ministries to put the blue print to rule in suspended jobs by accepting employees in administrative and educational subjects and deal with the subject of health diploma graduates in education. New appointments are expected to include graduates of delayed files in educational, administrative and health jobs.
