JEDDAH: Tatweer Co. for Educational Transportation will transport children who study at schools that fall within the red zone on Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen to safer schools.
Nearly 10,900 schoolchildren in Najran, Sabya, Southern Dhahran and Sarat Obaydah will be moved using passenger vans under direct contracts with parents and buses. A total of 973 vehicles have been contracted to undertake this vital security task.
The move aims to secure the safety of schoolchildren near the sensitive border with Yemen.
A ministry committee issued recommendations to provide every possible solution to help educational institutions in the area get whatever resources they need to continue to function as they normally would, including the provision of transport for children to and from schools.
Tatweer is fast-tracking the initiative using every resource in the affected areas.
This is another strategic service of the ministry’s school transportation program delivered by Tatweer, which serves some 188,000 schoolchildren in southern border schools using a fleet of more than 3,600 buses and passenger vans.
Not only does the service help schools function normally by securing the safety of children, but the ministry has put its entire transportation fleet in the area at the disposal of residents to help them through any possible threats.
This is just one example of government agencies coming together to normalize the daily lives of people in the southern border area.
