Eleven female students at King Khaled University escaped death when the bus in which they traveling overturned on King Abdullah Road.

Lt. Muhammad Asiri, spokesman for the Asir Traffic Department, told local media that all 11 students were immediately transported to Asir Central Hospital. The bus was completely destroyed, he said.

The General Director of Health Affairs in Asir said the students and the driver received immediate medical attention.

“Their condition is stable and only one student had to be hospitalized, having suffered a broken collarbone,” he said.

In other news, a fire broke out at the Municipality headquarters at Dawmat Al-Jandal. However, no casualties were reported in the incident, civil defense sources told a local newspaper.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and determined the cause of fire to be an electrical short-circuit in an office on the ground floor, which had official documents and copies of land deeds. The fire also spread to three other offices.

Fahd Al-Meshan, chairman of the Municipality, inspected the site and ordered renovation.

A mock fire drill which was earlier conducted by the Civil Defense created confusion among residents who were unaware of the procedure.
