DAMMAM: The second phase of the campaign called “Imatah” (removing waste), which was inaugurated by Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif, was launched last Friday in Alkhobar, with 1,500 workers of different nationalities pledging to maintain cleanliness, declaring their solidarity with the campaign.

The campaign is designed to educate workers in the province through their various languages of the objectives of the project and urge them to maintain cleanliness after the completion of the project’s first phase in Dammam.

Hamad Al-Madeeni, supervisor of the campaign, said: “Many authorities are participating in the campaign, including Alkhobar security agencies, the Traffic Department, police forces, the Saudi Red Crescent, Cooperative Office for Call and Guidance, and Spike Motorcycle Team, along with 150 volunteers from the Development Center of Dammam Neighborhoods.”

Al-Madeeni confirmed that the campaign heavily addresses workers in five languages, and includes a rally for cleanliness carried out by organizers, officials and volunteers with the participation of the laborers.

Awareness brochures and pamphlets translated into several languages were distributed, along with hygiene items and tools for cleanliness, the supervisor said, confirming the great interaction which proves its success and positive impact on all segments of society. He stressed that the upcoming campaign will target families throughout a week at a commercial complex in Dammam.

For his part, Alkhobar Mayor Essam Al-Mulla stressed the importance of this hygiene campaign, and called for concerted efforts of all segments of society in partnership with the municipality for the success of its objectives.

He said: “The Imatah Campaign has many social and psychological positive impacts on our society, and significantly contributes to maintaining the cleanliness in the province,” noting that since its inception, the project has received great interaction from the public and private sectors to reach to citizens and residents of all classes and ages.

EP citizens applauded the campaign and the tremendous efforts exerted by the stakeholders for spreading community awareness on the importance of hygiene, expressing their appreciation of the efforts in promoting hygiene through the mobilization of the public and private sectors, and community members through a system based on knowledge, and educational and moral concepts.
