King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" has held a three-day workshop for Saudis who qualified for the organization's domestic 'innovation Olympiad' program which took place recently in the field of scientific research, in order to prepare the students for the upcoming international contest.

According to Hamdan Al-Mohammad, general supervisor for National Science Olympiad for Creativity (NSOC), the workshop at the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) will hone the skills of students in the field of scientific research, and will review projects from the scientific point of view, besides improving their communication skills.

He said the workshop includes 36 innovative projects that won the Saudi Scientific Creativity Festival (SSCF) awards. Of these, 18 projects will be nominated for the Exhibition of Science and Engineering (Intel ISEF 2015) scheduled for May this year in the US.

“Another workshop will be held after the selection of projects, and before going to the US, he said, adding: "Students have shown a high spirit. It reflects their enthusiasm for scientific research and eagerness to be the best ambassadors of their country."

As many as 17 faculties in various scientific fields took part in this year's event compared to eight scientific committees last year. The official has urged the public to support these talented Saudi youth and to motivate them to excel in their chosen field as they represent millions of Saudis.

Meanwhile, the participating students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity given them. They deemed it a great honor to represent their country at such an international event.
