JEDDAH: The Saudi security forces have thwarted nearly 18,000 infiltration attempts on the Kingdom’s border with Yemen since the launch of Operation Decisive Storm in March.

“The number of infiltration attempts foiled by the security authorities since the beginning of the military operation against the Houthi rebels until the end of Ramadan reached 18,214,” a source in the security department told Arab News.

The security authorities monitored 299 attempts to cross the border illegally on the first day of Decisive Storm, 360 on the second day, 209 third day, 344 fourth day, 96 fifth day, 126 sixth day, 163 seventh day and 100 attempts on the eighth day, the source said.

“During the first month of the operation, 5,120 infiltration attempts were foiled. However, the number of attempts increased in the second month to 5,520,” the source added.
