A committee formed to investigate the escape of 77 illegal expat detainees from a shelter during Eid has recommended the transfer of 25 officers from the branch in the wake of the incident.

The committee was formed under the directives of Riyadh Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

Sources confirmed that the transfer recommendation included the director of the division, who holds the rank of colonel, the guarding officer of the division, who also holds the rank of colonel, and the shift officer, who holds the rank of captain, in addition to 22 officers who were on duty at the time of the escape.

Sources said the division’s director, who was included in the transfer, was on vacation at the time.

The Riyadh governorate announced more than three weeks ago that the committee is in the final stages of investigations and will be ready to file its report soon.

The committee made several observations regarding the cause of the illegals' escape.

The detainees had dug a hole under the wall of the detention center to escape, sources revealed.

The center is affiliated with the Riyadh Prison Directorate.
