RIYADH: Three youths were arrested for posting a video clip on social media showing them opening fire at a police station in the east of Riyadh, misleading readers.

“There was no truth in the report which portrayed a group of young men who purported to have opened fire at a police station in the east of Riyadh,” Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman said on Tuesday.

The police acted swiftly to apprehend the three youths who were involved in the fake video.

According to police, the three youths had shot a video clip staging a scene where one of them was shown firing at a police station with a toy gun, while the other was filming the scene with sound of gunshots, and the third was driving the car.

It has been learned that the youths were doing it for their own entertainment without realizing the consequences of their actions.

The car, the toy gun, phones and other items used in the fake clip were seized by the police.

Al-Maiman urged youths to be more responsible in their actions.
