JEDDAH: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) has received 31 complaints about high hotel prices, and unlicensed operators in Makkah.

This came as hotels recorded a 75 percent occupancy rate on the third day of Eid, with an expected 100 percent rate in the coming days at five and four-star hotels. Furnished apartment blocks are expected to record occupancy rates of between 70 and 80 percent.

Mohammed Al-Omari, director general of the SCTNH in Makkah, said celebrations and activities in Jeddah around Eid Al-Adha and Saudi National Day would continue until Sunday, Oct. 11.

Al-Omari said a team of the SCTNH would be working in Jeddah to monitor hotels and other accommodation facilities, to ensure compliance with price lists and other regulations.

There has been a major influx of Hajis, visitors and residents into Jeddah and Makkah, with many flocking to entertainment centers, shops, parks, and historical sites.
