A total of 37 hindrance cases have been filed by sons against their fathers over the past eight months across the Kingdom, local media said.

Hindrance cases are primarily meant to ban fathers from using their money or property irrationally due to age, health or cognitive factors.

Courts in Riyadh region captured the lion’s share of hindrance rates, with 15 cases, or 40 percent of the Kingdom’s total, followed by Makkah courts, which received eight cases, the Eastern Province, with seven cases and Tabuk, with two cases, while Madinah, Qasim, Asir, Najran, and Al-Jouf reported one case each, said sabq.org electronic newspaper.

Meanwhile, courts in the Kingdom received 199 cases of disobedience filed by men against their sons during the same period.

About 40 percent of disobedience cases were registered in the Makkah and Riyadh regions. Forty of the cases were reported in Makkah and 38 in Riyadh, the paper said.

Saudi courts received 241 disobediences cases and 33 hindrance cases last year, media sources said.
