Four people, including a woman, were killed and four others were injured in a pile-up involving four vehicles on an overpass on a mountainous road in the Asir Province on Monday.

“The injured people were brought to the emergency section of the Asir Hospital this morning following the accident on Dalae road,” said Saeed Al-Naqir, spokesman of the Health Directorate in Asir Province, adding that one of the injured was still in critical condition, while the others were stable.

Ahmed Siri, spokesman of the Red Crescent in the province, said the accident took place at around 9 a.m. when a military truck driver lost control of his vehicle on the Atma overpass and collided with three other cars, causing the deaths and injuries.

Ambulance teams were immediately sent to the accident site. A man and a woman traveling in a military pickup van, a man in his 50’s driving a jeep and a man traveling in a Hyundai Accent were killed instantly, he said.

The truck driver sustained serious injuries on his left arm, while a man and his daughter traveling in the pickup suffered minor injuries. The bodies are being kept at the hospital mortuary.
