Three young men in their twenties and thirties, along with a child aged 11 years, have survived an accident after their vehicle fell from an altitude of 200 meters as they were driving through a tourism area in Sawdat Asir.

Spokesman of the Civil Defense in the region, Lt. Col. Muhammad Al-Asmi, said that the operation room received a report stating that a vehicle, a Jeep Toyota 89, had fallen down off of the road into a rocky area.

The vehicle was carrying four people, all of whom had their legal residency documents with them.

The spokesman said that the rescue teams moved immediately to the accident scene and elevated the persons with ropes back up to the road. The injuries of the persons involved ranged from mild to severe according to the initial report. The injured were transferred by air ambulance to Asir Central Hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and will follow the regulatory procedures.

Ahmed Asiri, spokesman for the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Asir region, said the operation room received a report stating a vehicle has fallen at the gliding flight park in Sawdat.

The spokesman said one person managed to jump from the car while it was moving downhill toward the rocky area. He said two persons were seriously injured but the child suffered mild injuries.
