The Saudi National Campaign for Syrian Refugees has offered 57 relief programs and projects to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, as well as those displaced inside Syria at a total cost of about SR429 million.

The 50-truck caravan left Riyadh for Jordan last night as part of the Kingdom’s continued relief assistance to the four million Syrian civilians taking refuge in those countries.

The fifth caravan, intended to provide relief to Syrian refugees in Jordan, was jointly launched by the Saudi National Campaign for Syrian refugees and Nolabee Al-Nedaa. It was also the first relief effort to be operating in the refugee zones.

The convoy, under Prince Turki bin Talal’s supervision, was flagged off on its marathon journey in the presence of a number of officials, prominent religious personalities and businessmen.

Speaking with Arab News, Prince Turki said, “Saudi Arabia’s foundation is based on goodness and generosity, not on invasions. The late King Abdul Aziz founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the basis of the growth and development we see around us.”

Prince Turki said, “This campaign is an example of the way Saudi Arabia conducts itself. There is no political agenda when it comes to relief work; the government is only looking after the interests of the people who are in need.”

“They are also our neighbors and our religion places great emphasis on neighbors. We stand with the oppressed wherever they are and are quick to respond to their needs.”

The prince also the government has the full cooperation of the people of Saudi Arabia because they are aware of the noble purpose of the mission of serving humanity.

Prince Turki described the relief initiative as a wonderful way of celebrating the Saudi National Day by extending assistance to those in dire need.

According to the organizing committee, the relief caravan carried food items such as rice, sugar, flour, pasta and dates. Another truck was loaded with medical items and shelter equipment based on the immediate needs of the refugees.

Around 28 relief projects have been organized under Prince Turki’s supervision so far. The services range from providing shelter to the provision of medicine and food. OAN initiatives also provide sustainable development services and have succeeded in garnering the support of major businessmen, authorities and individuals.
