About 5,000 modern buses will transport Arab pilgrims between the holy sites this year.

Buses have already started transporting Arab pilgrims to Mina for the Day of Tarwiyah (reflection).

Faisal bin Muhammad Nouh, chairman of the National Tawafa Establishment for Pilgrims of Arab Countries and a mutawwif (pilgrim guide), said the transport plan was in place a few days ago.

Abdullah bin Hassan Ma’ajini, another board member and mutawwif, said the 5,000 buses would be accompanied by a mobile repair workshop to deal with breakdowns.

Ma’ajini said Arab pilgrims would also benefit from the Mashaer railway network including 6,400 pilgrims from Kuwait. He said the buses would use the King Fahd tunnel to enter Mina.

The transport arrangements were revealed at a meeting between the tawafa officials and Sudan office for pilgrim affairs. Other attendees included Al-Mutei Muhammad Ahmad, the head of the Sudanese Haj mission; Osama Qatouah, supervisor of the sea coast sector; and other field service officers.

Ma’ajini said that 500 buses were allocated this year for the Sudanese Haj mission.

Ahmad said 25,600 Sudanese pilgrims would perform Haj this year. He thanked the Kingdom for helping the tawafa establishment serve Arab pilgrims.
