Saudis working in private firms filed more than 5,000 labor-related cases, compared with 10,000 such cases filed by expats, over the past eight months, local media reported.

Provisional labor dispute settlement courts received more than 15,500 cases Kingdom-wide, a third of which concerned Saudi employees, Al-Watan reported, quoting data released by the Ministry of Labor.

Only around 16 percent of cases involving SR320 million in compensation were settled, the report said.

Jeddah received the lion’s share of all cases, with more than 1,600 cases filed, while Riyadh registered almost 930 cases, Dammam 628 and Makkah 516, said the report.
