Four young men of African origin were arrested by security authorities in Jeddah on charges of stealing SR184,000 from a car owned by an Arab expatriate, sabq.com online paper said.

The Nuzha Police Center had earlier received a notification from the victim, a 26-year-old who reported that his car windows were broken and the sum of SR184,000 which belonged to his company, had been stolen, media spokesman of Makkah Police Lt. Col. Ati bin Attiyah Al-Qurashi told the media.

The four-member gang ranging in age from 22-40 years is being held by the police and investigations are underway prior to their transfer to the concerned security bodies, he said.

In a related development, two Burmese nationals were arrested for stealing SR120,000 from a car owned by a well-known restaurant chain based in Taif, the paper said.

The two Burmese, aged 27 and 28 years, reportedly worked with the food company before being terminated.

The owner had earlier filed a complaint claiming that he had been robbed of a sum worth SR120,000 and accused the Burmese of the crime saying it was an act of revenge for being laid off. According to the paper, the accused closely monitored the accountant’s car before helping themselves to the money. However, they were later arrested, the paper said.
