Data released by official agencies reveals that only six percent of foreign workers are employed in the public sector.

This translates into more than 73,000 male and female workers currently deployed in the government sector.

The majority of foreign workers are employed in health and higher education.

By contrast, there are 1.2 million Saudis, both male and female, working in various government departments.

Men account for 61.73 percent of the total work force.

About 19,129 employees were appointed last year against a similar figure of employees who left the service during the same period.

These figures were cited in the first issue of a monthly statistical publication for November 2013.

The Ministry of Civil Service said that the statistical publication would be released monthly on its website.

The publication includes other aspects of civil service in the Kingdom that are related to the growth and development of the public service, such as the number of both Saudi and expat employees working in the Kingdom, figures on the number of appointees, those who left and workers who were appointed by the Civil Service Ministry.
