JEDDAH: The Special Criminal Court in Riyadh has sentenced a Saudi woman to six years in prison for pledging allegiance to the leader of the Daesh terrorist group Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and indulging in other seditious activities in the country.
She was also found guilty of using accounts on social media sites to incite people to oppose the government, printing posters, which she placed on the walls of some mosques and electricity poles in Unaizah, Qasim, and calling for the release of detained terrorists.
The woman had posted messages on Twitter in support of the terrorist attack on a Public Security building in Sharourah, accused the Kingdom of not applying Islamic law correctly, and made contact with others who supported Daesh.
Meanwhile, a court here has found two men guilty of attacking police officers, throwing Molotov cocktails at the court in Qatif, participating in riots and voicing anti-government slogans.
The first defendant was sentenced to death for various crimes including attempts to destabilize the security of the Kingdom, shooting at security officers at the Tarot police station, and on a security patrol stationed at Samakah Square in the Eastern Province.
The court convicted him for being in possession of a sub-machine gun and 98 bullets, a pistol with three bullets, buying and selling weapons without a license, drug abuse and trafficking, and storing prohibited materials on his computer.
The court found the second defendant guilty of disrupting public order and security by participating in riots at his residence, voicing anti-government slogans, throwing Molotov cocktails, burning ties in the streets, and abusing drugs including hashish.
The judge sentenced him to 22 years in prison, of which five years was for violating laws around the possession of explosives. He was also banned from traveling for the same period after his sentence. In addition, he will receive 79 lashes for abusing drugs.
