JEDDAH: Seventy percent of reports received by the Interior Ministry’s Public Security division are incorrect, a local publication reported recently.
Director of Public Security Osman Al-Muhriq said that there are 24 lines open for public calls. Only 20 to 30 percent of the complaints turn out to be authentic, he was quoted as saying.
Al-Muhriq said that the staff out in the field are trained to deal with dangerous situations and have skills to protect themselves. While officers are at risk, they are committed to protect the country against criminals and extremists, he said.
He said the Kingdom has enacted several laws and set up many bodies to deal with criminals. Two of the most important bodies are the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution and the Board of Grievances. He said lawyers are vital to the justice system, particularly to protect the rights of the vulnerable.
