Around 900 inmates have been released from prisons in the Eastern Province (EP) during the last days of Ramadan, announced Brig. Gen Nasser Al-Faraj, who was speaking on behalf of the director of the EP Prisons Directorate.

“A committee examined the files of all the prisoners in the Eastern Province, which amount to around 5,800 inmates from both genders and include expatriates.

Only 900 prisoners who met the conditions and requirements of the royal pardon have been released,” Al-Faraj noted.

Al-Faraj made the statement during an iftar event, which was organized by the Department of Religious Affairs, Guidance and Counseling, for inmates and prison officials.
