A total of 96 trainees graduated recently from handicraft programs in the provinces of Jazan, Mahail Asir and Badr. Sponsored by the National Commercial Bank (NCB), the courses included making products from pearls and porcelain.

Sixty-six of the low-income beneficiaries are from Mahail Asir, 15 from Badr, and 15 from Jazan.

Mahmoud Al-Turkestani, NCB’s vice president and head of its social responsibility section, said: “The bank trained 1,343 women from low-income communities with skills including sewing, cooking, spinning, drawing and printing on silk.”

Sixty-four courses were offered in cooperation with the Jazan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Women’s Charity of Mahail Asir, and the Commission on Civil and Social Development in Badr, in 31 towns and villages across the Kingdom.





The initiative is part of the NCB’s program to help poor citizens create and market their own products at various exhibitions, including the Saudi International Wedding Exhibition in Jeddah.

Graduates of the program also participated in various exhibitions including “We are all producers 4” and “Identity 2,” and at the National Gallery.

More than 8,839 female trainees have completed the employment and training programs since their inception in 2006. So far, more than 447 specialized training courses were held in more than 60 cities and villages in the Kingdom.
