Al-Maowdan Charity for Social Reform in Jeddah has offered family training to 1,402 grooms as part of the family rehabilitation project, launched at the beginning of this year.
In all, 90 courses given over 845 hours of training were conducted by coaches accredited with the charity and the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training.
The program, entitled “Towards a Happy Life,” trained 74 trainees through six courses last month. Many of the trainees have praised the program, stressing on the importance of the enrollment of future couples in such courses to help achieve a reassuring and positive family life.
According to Faisal Al-Samanodi, secretary-general of the charity, family training courses address many topics, including intimacy, compassion and communication between the couple prior to their wedding.
Such courses help future couples learn more about one another's personality and character.
The courses also train participants on how to deal with marital problems. At the end of each session, trainees are presented with complementary educational packages. They will also receive educational SMS messages on a monthly basis.
The courses are part of efforts to build awareness on family happiness and stability, Al-Samanodi said. The events and programs not only address potential problems, but also propose solutions that can help ensure happiness and stability.
The charity also hosts a number of programs, including programs targeting family reform and therapy, family counseling, rehabilitation sessions for newly married couples and rehabilitation sessions for women.
The charity also distributes leaflets and brochures to educate family members about marriage, as well as organizes public lectures, forums, and competitions about married life and family issues to help raise awareness among the public and share knowledge from scientific studies and research.
