RIYADH: Al-Musmak Palace Museum in the capital, which displays Saudi history to take its visitors back in the past to witness how the late King Abdul Aziz founded the unified modern Kingdom, hosted a workshop to promote patriotism by highlighting the historic and cultural values of the Kingdom.

A museum official said Monday that Al-Musmak Museum hosted an open atelier under the theme “A journey of the pen” for the students of general courses with the aim of raising national sentiment by highlighting the history and cultural treasures of Kingdom.

About 300 students from different grades representing 63 schools, and accompanied by 66 teachers participated in the workshop, he revealed.

He added that the program comes as a continuation of the cooperation and partnership between the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) and the Department of Education for conducting educational programs for cultural awareness and national integration.

Students and teachers toured different halls of the museum, where they were briefed about the museum’s exhibits, including paintings and photos, and educated on their importance in the Kingdom’s history in general, and Riyadh’s history in particular.

They also watched a documentary about the retaking of Riyadh by the legendary King Abdul Aziz.

They were also told about SCTNH efforts in the preservation and development of historic and heritage buildings in the Kingdom.

Afterward, the students were spread out inside the halls of the museum and positioned opposite the main facade of the museum to begin drawing architectural elements of Al-Musmak including its decorations, the famed door and other facades and towers.

At the end of the open atelier students were honored by a host of high dignitaries including Nasir Al-Eraifi, Al-Musmak Museum director.

After its re-development, Al-Musmak Palace has become one of the most advanced museums in the Kingdom and a prestigious example of modern museums in terms of display techniques.

Moreover, it is an important historical destination for state guests, visitors and tourists of the capital, and its residents and students.
