JEDDAH: Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, chief of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, said that the Kingdom has been successful in countering terrorist and extremist groups.

“This success has been because of the support of the citizens and their embrace of the leadership of the country as well as the support they extend to the efforts of the security forces in accomplishing their assigned tasks and duties,” he was quoted as saying by a local newspaper.

Al-Sudais said the Kingdom was keen to counter terrorism by adopting a policy to face the ideology with a counter-ideology. The Kingdom seeks to dedicate and harness all efforts to address and combat the deviant thoughts, disclose its faults and objectives and protect citizens from it.

He urged the international community to follow in the steps of Saudi Arabia in tackling and attacking terrorism.

Al-Sudais explained that the land of the two holy mosques is one of fairness, justice and peace. It calls on decision-makers of the world to address the matters and events with wisdom and sanity, and to keep humanity from the evils of disasters and wars, to provide a just peace for all, and to strengthen international security.

He said religious scholars must show what is right and just in these events from the Islamic balanced perspective so that the bright and clear image of Islam and its people is reflected to the whole world.

Al-Sudais valued and cherished the pioneering role of the Kingdom in combating and countering terrorism with the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the efforts of the security authorities and the universities in this regard.
